What to expect

Five quiet steps, from arrival to home.

Every massage at Wild Orchid follows the same considered arc. Customized inside that structure to your body that day.

i.

Real consultation

Five minutes. What hurts, what you do for work, how you slept this week, what pressure you actually prefer. Not a script — genuine information so your therapist can do real work.

ii.

A quiet, warm room

Heated table, fresh linens, low light, music chosen for the hour. You undress to your level of comfort, slip under the sheet, and we knock before entering. Nothing about the room rushes you.

iii.

Custom-pressure technique

There's no "deep" or "light" — there's only the pressure your body needs today. Your therapist checks in early, then keeps working at the depth that's right. You can speak up at any point.

iv.

Quiet return

When the work ends, the room stays quiet. You sit up slowly. A glass of water is waiting. No one rushes you out — the recovery is part of the treatment.

v.

Home rituals

Brief, practical guidance for the next 24 hours — hydration, gentle stretches, what to avoid. Only what's worth your time. Many clients schedule the next visit right at the desk.

Why regular massage matters

More than relaxation. Real medicine for the body.

Massage isn't a luxury layered onto wellness — it's one of the oldest, best-studied health practices on record. Here's what regular sessions actually do.

i.

Stress drops measurably

A single massage lowers cortisol by an average of 31% and raises serotonin by 28%. Regular sessions retrain your nervous system to spend more time in the "rest and digest" state — the foundation of nearly every other health improvement.

ii.

Pain actually changes

Chronic back pain, headaches, neck tension, hip tightness — peer-reviewed studies consistently show massage reduces all of them when done in series. Not "feels better for an hour." Structural, measurable, lasting change.

iii.

Circulation and immunity

Blood flow improves, lymph moves, oxygen reaches tissues that haven't seen it in a while. Lymphatic drainage specifically increases lymph flow by up to 400% — the system that clears waste and runs your immune defense.

iv.

Sleep becomes real again

Most clients sleep deeper the night of a massage — sometimes the first real sleep in weeks. Over a series, sleep quality improves as a baseline. Better sleep is the multiplier underneath every other benefit you're chasing.

Common questions

Before you book.

Use the interactive picker above — six concerns, two recommendations each. Or default to Swedish 60 minutes for a first visit; your therapist will read your body and suggest the right next direction. There's no wrong door.
For maintenance: every two to four weeks. For active treatment of a specific issue (chronic pain, post-surgical recovery, athletic training): weekly for a short series, then taper. The benefits compound — the second and third sessions land deeper than the first.
Undress to your level of comfort. Most clients undress fully and stay under the sheet — only the area being worked on is uncovered, always. Underwear is fine too. Your therapist leaves the room while you undress, knocks before re-entering, and never exposes you. Comfort is the only rule.
It should feel like "hurts so good" — pressure that releases tension, not pain that makes you brace. Sharp pain is always a signal to ease off, and your therapist will check in. "No pain, no gain" is a myth in massage. The work is done at the edge of release, not the edge of suffering.
Often yes — but call first to discuss. Prenatal massage is wonderful but requires specific positioning after the first trimester. Lymphatic Drainage is especially popular post-surgery (Brazilian butt lift, liposuction, tummy tuck) — wait for your surgeon's clearance, then come in. For acute illness, fever, or recent injuries, please reschedule.
Yes. We offer side-by-side massage in our couples room for two clients in the same session. Call to book this directly rather than reserving online — we'll coordinate the right pairing of therapists and time. Great for date nights, mother-daughter visits, or close friends.
Almost nothing. Arrive five minutes early so you're not rushed. Hydrate during the day. Skip heavy meals in the two hours before. After: drink water, take it easy, sleep well. That's the whole protocol.
